Walls Of Hindu Temple pasted with Pro-Khalistan Slogans In US

A Hindu temple in California, specifically Newark's Swaminarayan Mandir Vasana Sanstha, fell victim to defacement as pro-Khalistan and anti-India slogans were discovered on its walls. The Hindu-American Foundation, having formerly shared images of the incident on X, emphasized the potential psychological impact on visitors and the creation of a "fear of violence." The slogans targeted India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. A case has been filed with both the Newark Police Department and the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division, with the Foundation urging an investigation into this as a hate crime.

This incident is not isolated, mirroring previous occurrences where Hindu temples were targeted in the US and neighboring Canada. Concerns have been raised by India about the increasing activities of Khalistan supporters, prompting measures against individuals and organizations fueling separatist sentiments abroad. In August, a temple in Surrey, Canada, was vandalized by alleged Khalistani supporters who adorned its walls and gate with pro-Khalistan posters, urging Canada to investigate India's alleged involvement in the death of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Meanwhile, tensions have risen as the US arrested an Indian individual for his purported role in a plot to assassinate Khalistan terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun. Amidst accusations, India has demanded evidence to substantiate claims, asserting that they will investigate if provided with proof.
