Heavy rains and thunderstorms swept through the UAE today, causing the cancellation of multiple international flights. This incident occurred just two weeks after Dubai faced unprecedented storms that had brought the emirate to a standstill for several days. Responding to the situation, the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) raised the readiness and preparedness levels of the national system.
Although these current rains are expected to be less severe compared to the historic downpour last month, the public is advised to take necessary precautions. On April 14-15, the Arabian Peninsula experienced extreme rainfall, with Dubai recording its heaviest rains since 1949. This recent spell of inclement weather highlights the importance of being vigilant and ready to respond effectively to such natural occurrences.
