No Country should offer operation base to Extremist, separatist forces: Jaishankar

On Saturday, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar expressed concern over the defacement of a Hindu temple in the US with anti-India graffiti, emphasizing that extremists and separatist forces outside India should not find space for such actions. Speaking at the Rashtriya Raksha University's third convocation, Jaishankar stated that the Indian consulate had filed a complaint with the US government and police regarding the incident. The vandalism occurred at the Shri Swaminarayan Mandir Hindu temple in Newark, California, where the word 'Khalistan' was spray-painted alongside other objectionable graffiti.

The Newark police received a report of the incident and assured that crimes motivated by hate or bias are treated with high priority. The Consulate General of India in San Francisco strongly condemned the defacement. Addressing the arrest of Nikhil Gupta in the Czech Republic for allegedly planning to assassinate US-based pro-Khalistan activist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun in collaboration with an Indian official, Jaishankar mentioned that consular access had been provided to Gupta.

Responding to queries about the absence of the USA and Canada from the partner countries' list for the 10th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, Jaishankar avoided attributing political meaning to it. He clarified that invitations depend on government-level decisions and noted that many countries express interest in participating, with the government of Gujarat handling the invitations.
