Iran's President Issues Strong Warning Over Potential Israeli Retaliation

Iran's President Issues Strong Warning Over Potential Israeli Retaliation

Iran has urged Israel to refrain from military retaliation following an attack overnight, which Iran claimed was a justified response to a deadly strike on its consulate building in Damascus. The Iranian mission to the United Nations conveyed that the matter could be considered resolved, but cautioned that any further mistakes by Israel would prompt a more severe response from Iran.

President Ebrahim Raisi warned Israel and its allies against reckless actions after Iran's drone and missile attack, marking the first direct military assault on Israeli territory by Iran. Raisi emphasized that any provocative behavior from Israel or its supporters would result in a decisive and stronger retaliation from Iran.

In response to international condemnation of its attack, Iran's foreign ministry summoned the ambassadors of France, Britain, and Germany, citing their countries' irresponsible positions regarding Iran's response.

Iran's Revolutionary Guards Corps announced that they had launched "dozens of drones and missiles" towards military sites in Israel late Saturday. The Iranian mission to the UN defended the action as legitimate defense against Israel's aggression towards their diplomatic premises in Damascus.

Israel's military, with assistance from the United States and allies, claimed to have intercepted 99 percent of the drones and missiles, labeling Iran's attack as "foiled." However, Iran's army chief of staff, Mohammad Bagheri, stated that the attack achieved its objectives, targeting an intelligence center and an airbase allegedly used by Israeli F-35 jets during the Damascus consulate strike.

Bagheri asserted that both targeted centers suffered significant damage, although Israel downplayed the impact, citing minor damage. Iran stated it had no intention to continue the operation after achieving its goals.

Overall, the situation reflects escalating tensions between Iran and Israel, with Iran justifying its actions as defensive measures against perceived Israeli aggression. Israel, on the other hand, maintains that Iran's attack was unsuccessful and aims to prevent further escalations. The international community's condemnation and diplomatic exchanges underscore the gravity of the situation and the potential for further conflict if tensions are not de-escalated.
