Shah Rukh Khan to Receive Prestigious Career Achievement Award at Locarno

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan will receive the career achievement honor at the 77th Locarno Film Festival, the organizers announced on Tuesday. He will be the first Indian to receive the 'Pardo alla Carriera Ascona-Locarno Tourism' award. Previous recipients include Italian filmmaker Francesco Rosi, American singer-actor Harry Belafonte, and Malaysian director Tsai Ming-liang.

The 58-year-old actor will be honored on August 10 at Piazza Grande in Locarno, Switzerland. Additionally, his 2002 film "Devdas," directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, will be screened during the festival, which starts on August 7. Shah Rukh Khan, who recently celebrated 32 years in cinema, will also participate in a public conversation at the Forum @Spazio Cinema on August 11.

Giona A. Nazzaro, Artistic Director of the Locarno Film Festival, praised Khan's unparalleled contributions to Indian cinema, stating that welcoming him is a dream come true. The award recognizes his extensive career, encompassing over 100 films across various genres.

Shah Rukh Khan returned to the big screen in 2023 with "Pathaan" after a five-year hiatus, followed by hits "Jawan" and "Dunki." The Locarno Film Festival concludes on August 17.
