Yoga: The Global Path to Peace and Wellness

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, leading the 11th International Yoga Day celebrations in Visakhapatnam, hailed yoga as the "pause button" the world urgently needs amid rising conflicts and stress. Calling for a global transformation, he urged people to embrace "Yoga for Humanity 2.0", where inner peace becomes global policy.

Under the theme ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health’, this year's celebration highlighted yoga’s universal appeal and its growing global reach. “Yoga is beyond boundaries, beyond age or ability. It has united the world,” said the Prime Minister. From the heights of Everest to the Sydney Opera House, yoga is practiced everywhere, reinforcing its status as a tool of unity, wellness, and peace.

Modi reminded the world of India’s historic proposal at the UN General Assembly in 2014, where 175 countries co-sponsored the resolution to designate June 21 as International Yoga Day — a rare show of unity on a global platform.

"Yoga takes us from ‘me’ to ‘we’. It awakens us to our interconnectedness. Begin each day with yoga, and you will find harmony in your life," the Prime Minister said, calling it India’s healing gift to the world.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu lauded PM Modi’s vision, noting that over 10 crore people in 175 countries are participating across 12 lakh locations. The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) is organizing events in 191 countries.

In India, iconic heritage sites like Jantar Mantar, Qutub Minar, Ayodhya, and Varanasi have become hubs of yoga celebration, reinforcing the ancient practice’s role in modern wellness.

Yoga, as PM Modi said, is no longer just an Indian tradition—it's a global movement for peace, balance, and collective well-being.
