Shah Refutes Stalin’s Claims of Seat Loss for TN Post-Delimitation

Shah Refutes Stalin’s Claims of Seat Loss for TN Post-Delimitation

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday dismissed Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s allegations of unfair treatment by the Centre regarding fund allocation and delimitation. Addressing a BJP event in Chennai, Shah highlighted that the Narendra Modi-led government had allocated ?5,08,337 crore to Tamil Nadu between 2014 and 2024, rejecting claims of discrimination.

Shah accused Stalin of diverting public attention by spreading misinformation about the upcoming delimitation exercise. He assured that no southern state, including Tamil Nadu, would lose parliamentary seats when the process is undertaken on a pro-rata basis. He also criticized the ruling DMK for what he described as a deteriorating law-and-order situation in the state.

“The anti-national tendency in Tamil Nadu is at an all-time high,” Shah said, referencing the security provided for the last rites of S.A. Basha, convicted in the 1998 Coimbatore bomb blasts. He alleged that the DMK government was allowing the drug mafia to operate freely and that illegal mining was corrupting state politics.

Taking a swipe at the ruling party, Shah remarked, “All DMK leaders have a Master’s degree in corruption.” He claimed that while Tamil Nadu’s people faced critical issues, Stalin and his son, Udhayanidhi, were attempting to distract them by focusing on delimitation.

On the upcoming March 5 all-party meeting convened by the state government on the issue, Shah reiterated that the Centre had assured in Parliament that no southern state would lose seats due to delimitation.

Expressing confidence in the BJP’s future prospects, he predicted a sweeping NDA victory in Tamil Nadu in the next Assembly elections, surpassing the party’s successes in Maharashtra and Haryana. Shah also virtually inaugurated BJP offices in Tiruvannamalai and Ramanathapuram.
