Netanyahu Vows 'Total Victory' Amid Global Condemnation of Gaza Offensive

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reaffirmed his government's determination to achieve "total victory" in Gaza, even as key allies — the United Kingdom, France, and Canada — issued a rare joint rebuke over Israel's military actions and aid blockade in the besieged Palestinian territory.

In a strongly worded statement, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney called conditions in Gaza "intolerable" and warned of "concrete" consequences if Israel continues its military campaign and restrictions on humanitarian aid.

“We will not stand by while the Netanyahu government pursues these egregious actions,” the leaders declared. “If Israel does not cease its renewed offensive and lift aid restrictions, we will take further action.” Though the trio did not outline specific measures, they expressed commitment to recognising a Palestinian state as part of a broader push for a two-state solution.

Their joint warning came alongside a broader demand from 22 nations for Israel to allow the full resumption of humanitarian assistance to Gaza, citing mass starvation and widespread civilian suffering. The statement also denounced inflammatory rhetoric from Israeli officials and warned that forced displacement of civilians would constitute a breach of international humanitarian law.

Netanyahu sharply criticised the joint statement, accusing the allied leaders of rewarding Hamas and undermining Israel’s right to self-defense. “This is a war between civilisation and barbarism,” he said. “Israel will not stop until Hamas is dismantled, hostages are released, and Gaza is demilitarised.”

Despite international pressure, Israel has intensified its ground operations. Gaza's health ministry reports over 53,000 killed since the war began in October 2023, including more than 3,300 deaths since strikes resumed in March. Israel has kept Gaza under an aid blockade since March 2, recently allowing limited trucks to enter.
