Mahadev App Promoter Detained In Dubai

In a significant development concerning the Mahadev betting app case, Ravi Uppal, one of the primary promoters, has been apprehended by Dubai police based on a red corner notice issued by Interpol at the request of the Enforcement Directorate. Uppal, detained last week, is expected to be deported to India soon. The Mahadev app, allegedly yielding a daily profit of ?200 crore, had stirred political controversy ahead of the Chhattisgarh elections in November.

The Enforcement Directorate had asserted that a cash courier, Asim Das, accused the app promoters of paying ?508 crore to then Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel. However, when presented in court, Das claimed to be framed in a conspiracy, denying any cash deliveries to politicians.

During the investigation, it was discovered that Uppal, holding a Vanuatu passport, freely moved around despite not renouncing Indian citizenship. Additionally, he had applied for an Australian visa using the same passport. Meanwhile, the other app promoter, Sourabh Chandrakar, known for his lavish ?200-crore wedding attended by Bollywood celebrities in Dubai, remains at large, prompting ongoing efforts by ED officials to locate him.
