India Celebrates 76th Republic Day with Grandeur and Patriotism

India marks its 76th Republic Day today, celebrating 75 years of the Constitution's enactment with the theme Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas. The celebrations emphasize Jan Bhagidari (public participation), with over 10,000 attendees invited to witness the historic parade at Kartavya Path.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid homage at the National War Memorial before joining the parade, while President Droupadi Murmu arrived alongside Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, the event’s chief guest, in a ceremonial escort.

The parade began at 10:30 AM, featuring 31 tableaux showcasing India’s rich heritage and development. Highlights included a tri-services tableau depicting synchronized land, air, and sea operations with indigenous defense equipment like the Tejas MK-II fighter jet, INS Visakhapatnam, and the Arjun battle tank. The 61 Cavalry, the world’s only serving horsed cavalry regiment, led the mounted column.

A vibrant cultural display included 5,000 performers, with 300 musicians playing Sare Jahan Se Achha using traditional instruments. A marching contingent from Indonesia's Armed Forces added international camaraderie. Women empowerment shone brightly with an all-women CRPF contingent led by Assistant Commandant Aishwarya Joy and veteran women officers representing Nari Shakti.

Military hardware such as the BrahMos missile, Pinaka rocket systems, and the NAG missile system were on display, reflecting India’s defense prowess. A veterans' tableau honored their contributions, with notable personalities like Padma Shri Subedar Murlikant Petkar joining the parade.

The Republic Day celebrations will culminate on January 29 with the Beating Retreat ceremony at Vijay Chowk, a symbolic and traditional military event where only Indian tunes will be performed. This year’s celebration underscores India’s unity, strength, and cultural diversity, reinforcing its journey toward a developed and self-reliant nation.
