Shehbaz Sharif's Inaugural Speech Highlights Kashmir, Palestine

In his inaugural address, Pakistan's newly-elected Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized on the Kashmir issue while pledging to bolster international relations, including with neighboring nations. He stressed that Pakistan would not engage in any geopolitical maneuvering, aiming instead to expand its circle of allies. Shehbaz affirmed his commitment to fostering equal relationships with neighboring countries, emphasizing the importance of mutual respect.

However, Shehbaz did not shy away from addressing contentious issues, such as the Kashmir conflict, which he likened to the situation in Palestine. He called for unified action, urging the National Assembly to pass resolutions supporting the freedom of Kashmiris and Palestinians. Expressing gratitude to his allies, Shehbaz credited the trust placed in him as a testament to his leadership.

In a landslide victory, Shehbaz secured 201 votes in the 336-member National Assembly, defeating his opponent from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Addressing the nation's challenges, particularly its fragile economy, Shehbaz highlighted the daunting task of managing a budgetary deficit exceeding one trillion rupees. He emphasized the urgent need for economic reform, acknowledging the significant debt burden and financial constraints faced by the country.

Shehbaz outlined his vision for economic revitalization, pledging to attract investment, revitalize the energy sector, and address the losses incurred by state-owned enterprises. Despite the challenges ahead, he remained optimistic about Pakistan's prospects for development, promising tangible progress within a year.

Additionally, Shehbaz underscored the importance of national unity and collaboration across various sectors to overcome obstacles and steer Pakistan towards prosperity. He called upon parliamentarians, journalists, intellectuals, politicians, and religious leaders to collectively work towards the country's advancement.

Amidst disruptions from PTI lawmakers, Shehbaz maintained composure and continued his address, condemning past acts of violence and advocating for a politics of reconciliation. He urged for accountability while offering reconciliation to the opposition, emphasizing the need for cooperation in addressing economic issues.

Shehbaz's tenure as Prime Minister is set to commence with his oath-taking ceremony at the Presidential mansion on Monday, marking a renewed focus on economic stability and national unity.
