DRDO ITCM successfully tested: Rajnath Singh

DRDO ITCM successfully tested: Rajnath Singh

India achieved a significant milestone on Thursday with the successful flight testing of the Indigenous Technology Cruise Missile (ITCM) from the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur, Odisha, according to the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).

During the test, all subsystems performed as expected, garnering praise from Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who congratulated DRDO on this achievement. He highlighted the importance of developing an indigenous long-range subsonic cruise missile with indigenous propulsion, marking a substantial advancement in Indian defence research and development.

The missile's performance was closely monitored using Range Sensors such as Radar, Electro Optical Tracking System (EOTS), and Telemetry deployed by the Integrated Test Range at various locations, ensuring comprehensive coverage of its flight path. Monitoring also occurred from the Indian Air Force's Su-30-Mk-I aircraft.

The successful flight demonstrated the missile's ability to follow a desired path via waypoint navigation and execute a very low altitude sea-skimming flight. This test affirmed the reliable performance of the indigenous propulsion system developed by Bengaluru's Gas Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE).

The ITCM, developed by DRDO's Aeronautical Development Establishment in Bengaluru in collaboration with other labs and Indian industries, showcased India's prowess in missile technology. The test was witnessed by senior scientists from DRDO and production partners.
