Former US National Security Advisor (NSA) John Bolton has commended India's growing significance to the United States, advocating for strengthened bilateral cooperation and acknowledging New Delhi's expanding global role. Writing for the Washington Examiner, Bolton highlighted the joint US-India effort to counter China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) as evidence of India's determination to assert influence globally. The BRI, a massive infrastructure project by China, has raised concerns about its potential to enhance Beijing's economic and political influence across Asia and beyond.
Bolton asserted, "Beyond doubt, India will be a pivotal player in containing China's hegemonic aspirations along its vast Indo-Pacific perimeter."
Addressing the ongoing case involving former Indian naval officers in Qatar, Bolton emphasized that it has brought India's complex relationship with the Middle East to the forefront. He noted India's willingness to collaborate on intelligence matters with countries beyond its traditional allies.
"The ramifications for India from Israel's current efforts to eliminate Hamas's terrorism and constrain its Iranian puppet masters are significant, opening opportunities for both countries. But the situation also presents risks in a complex and difficult region," Bolton wrote.
