Central agencies will be after BJP post-2024 polls: Mamata

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee asserted on Thursday that the central agencies, presently focusing on opposition leaders, would turn their attention to the BJP after the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, predicting that the current government at the Centre would endure for only three more months. Speaking at the Netaji Indoor Stadium to TMC workers, Banerjee disclosed that, in the wake of her party leaders' arrests, there were purported plans to expel MP Mahua Moitra. However, she believed this move would ultimately work in Moitra's favor ahead of the elections.

Banerjee warned that the agencies currently targeting opposition figures would shift their focus to the BJP post-2024 elections. She confidently stated, "This government at the Centre is there for three more months." Furthermore, she accused the BJP-led government of seeking to eliminate reservations, asserting her opposition to such a move. Banerjee pledged to include minorities in the reservation system through the OBC quota, countering the BJP's stance against minority reservations.

Alleging a widespread effort to "saffronize" the nation, Banerjee claimed that this agenda extended from metro railway stations to the cricket team. She accused the BJP of attempting to impose a saffron identity, stating, "Saffron is the color of 'tyagis,' but you are 'bhogis'." Banerjee asserted that due to players resisting, the Indian cricket team avoided wearing the saffron practice jersey during matches.
