Trump To Meet PM Modi Next Week

During a campaign event in Michigan on Tuesday, former US President Donald Trump announced that he would meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi next week during Modi's upcoming visit to the United States. Trump, vying for the Republican presidential nomination, described Modi as a "fantastic man" but simultaneously criticized India for its trade policies, labeling the country a "very big abuser" of trade ties due to the high tariffs it imposes on imports.

Despite the critical comments, Trump emphasized his admiration for the Indian leader, saying, "Modi, he's fantastic. I mean, fantastic man. A lot of these leaders are fantastic." He did not provide further details about the meeting or its agenda.

PM Modi is scheduled to visit the United States from September 21 to 23, during which he will participate in key international forums, including the Quad Summit and the 'Summit of the Future' at the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The fourth Quad Leaders' Summit, an important event for regional cooperation in the Indo-Pacific, will be hosted by US President Joe Biden in his hometown of Wilmington, Delaware. The Quad, consisting of the United States, India, Japan, and Australia, focuses on strategic collaboration and fostering a free, open, and inclusive Indo-Pacific region.

After the Quad Summit, PM Modi will travel to New York to address a large gathering of the Indian diaspora in Long Island on Sunday. The Prime Minister is known for his strong ties with the global Indian community, and this event is expected to bolster the connection between the diaspora and India.

On Monday, Modi will address the 'Summit of the Future' at the United Nations General Assembly. The summit, themed 'Multilateral Solutions for a Better Tomorrow,' aims to explore global solutions to current challenges through international cooperation.

In addition to his participation in these summits, PM Modi is expected to engage with CEOs of major US-based companies to enhance collaborations between India and the United States in fields such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, semiconductors, and biotechnology. These meetings aim to deepen the economic and technological ties between the two countries.

PM Modi's visit marks an important moment for US-India relations, especially as the two nations look to strengthen their strategic partnership in a rapidly changing global landscape.
