Cong demands SC-monitored SIT probe in Electoral Bond bribes

Cong demands SC-monitored SIT probe in Electoral Bond bribes

The Congress reiterated its call for a Supreme Court-monitored Special Investigation Team (SIT) inquiry into the electoral bonds controversy, arguing that the lack of transparency in the scheme facilitated the channeling of prepaid, postpaid, and post-raid bribes through the banking system.

During a press briefing, Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of reneging on his promise to tackle black money and instead sanctioning corruption while attempting to conceal it.

Furthermore, the opposition party unveiled a "python code" that allegedly enabled the rapid matching of donors with political entities in less than 15 seconds. This demonstration aimed to debunk the State Bank of India's claim that fulfilling the Supreme Court's data requests would require several months.

In summary, Congress underscored the need for a thorough investigation into electoral bonds, highlighting concerns about corruption, lack of transparency, and the efficacy of government responses to inquiries regarding the scheme's operations.
