China Hawk Marco Rubio to Lead U.S. Diplomacy as Secretary of State

Donald Trump is preparing for his return to the White House following his decisive victory over Kamala Harris in the November 5 U.S. presidential elections. Trump secured a commanding win, clinching all seven key swing states—Arizona, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, North Carolina, and Nevada—each of which had supported the Democratic Party in the previous election. With the election behind him, Trump has begun assembling his cabinet and selecting key officials for his administration.

In one of his first major appointments, Trump has reportedly selected South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem to be his Secretary of Homeland Security, according to CNN sources. Trump's administration is already taking shape, with several high-profile figures named to key positions. Susie Wiles, one of Trump's campaign managers, will become White House Chief of Staff, while Tom Homan, former head of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), will oversee border security. Former congresswoman Elise Stefanik is expected to be named U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, and Lee Zeldin, a former New York congressman, is set to head the Environmental Protection Agency.

Trump is also looking to appoint Mike Waltz, a retired Army colonel and Florida congressman, as National Security Adviser. Meanwhile, Stephen Miller, a staunch immigration hardliner, will reportedly serve as Deputy Chief of Staff.

On the international front, Israeli Minister Ron Dermer met with Trump at his Mar-a-Lago estate to brief him on Israel’s strategies for Gaza, Lebanon, and Iran in the coming months. Additionally, U.S. climate envoy John Podesta acknowledged that while Trump may slow climate action, efforts at the state and local levels will continue.

With his administration taking shape, Trump’s policies and appointments are likely to shape the political landscape in the months ahead.
