Rains eases AQI index in NCR

Rains eases AQI index in NCR

Overnight showers in New Delhi and its surrounding areas provided a welcome respite for residents as the toxic haze dissipated, leading to a marginal improvement in air quality. The relief follows a week of severe pollution, with harmful particle concentrations reaching levels up to 100 times higher than World Health Organization recommendations.

Until Thursday, New Delhi held the unenviable title of the world's most polluted city. The current air quality in Delhi, recorded at 7 am, stands at 407, as reported by the government's air-quality monitoring agency SAFAR. The weather agency anticipates further pollution alleviation ahead of Diwali on Sunday. Concurrently, the Delhi government engages in ongoing discussions with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) regarding the possibility of artificial rains to combat the deteriorating air quality.
