Mohammed Shami Returns for T20I Series Against England

Mohammed Shami has made a much-anticipated return to the Indian cricket team for the five-match T20I series against England, starting January 22. The seasoned pacer, who last played in the ODI World Cup final against Australia on November 19, adds depth to India’s bowling attack.

However, the squad announcement by the BCCI featured some notable surprises. Rishabh Pant, a regular in the shorter format, has been left out, with no official explanation provided. Instead, the wicketkeeping responsibilities will be shared by Dhruv Jurel and Sanju Samson. Another notable omission is all-rounder Shivam Dube, despite his consistent performances. Rising star Nitish Kumar Reddy, who impressed in domestic cricket, has been included in the squad.

In addition to Shami, the pace attack will feature Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh. The spin department includes Varun Chakaravarthy, Ravi Bishnoi, and Washington Sundar, offering a mix of experience and youth.

Suryakumar Yadav will lead the squad, with Axar Patel serving as his deputy. The batting line-up boasts a mix of power and finesse, with names like Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya, and the in-form Rinku Singh.

The series will be a test of India's depth and new combinations, as the team aims to fine-tune its strategy ahead of the T20 World Cup later this year.
