During the second edition of the India-hosted virtual Voice of Global South Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the emerging challenges in West Asia, particularly in the context of the Hamas-Israel conflict. Emphasizing the need for unity among Global South countries, Modi highlighted India's stance on promoting dialogue, diplomacy, and restraint to address the situation. He condemned the October 7 terrorist attack on Israel while expressing strong disapproval of civilian casualties in the conflict.
The Voice of Global South Summit serves as a unique platform reflecting the changing dynamics of the 21st century, according to Modi. He called for cooperation based on the 'five Cs'—consultation, communication, cooperation, creativity, and capacity building. Additionally, Modi recalled the historic moment when India's efforts led to the African Union becoming a permanent member of the G20 during India's presidency.
Under India's G20 presidency, there was a notable focus on climate finance, with consensus reached on providing financial support and technology on favorable terms to Global South countries for climate transition. Modi emphasized the importance of ensuring that new technologies do not widen the gap between the Global South and North.
