Major terror attack in J&K

In a tragic incident in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district, one Indian Air Force (IAF) soldier lost his life, and five others sustained injuries when their convoy, including an IAF vehicle, faced heavy terrorist gunfire in the Surankote area. Among the injured, one airman is reportedly in critical condition. They were swiftly airlifted to the Command Hospital in Udhampur for urgent medical attention.

Reinforcements were immediately dispatched to the area, with ongoing counter-terrorism operations initiated by the local Rashtriya Rifles unit. The IAF confirmed the attack on its convoy near Shahsitar, stating that the area has been cordoned off for search operations, with the convoy secured and further investigations underway.

The targeted personnel were en route to an IAF facility when the ambush occurred. This marks the first significant assault on the armed forces in the region this year, following a series of attacks on the army in the previous year. Visual evidence post-attack displayed numerous bullet punctures on the vehicle's windscreen, depicting the intensity of the ambush.
