India’s forex reserves stands at $606.859 bn

India's foreign exchange reserves rose by $2.816 billion to $606.859 billion in the week ending December 8, according to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). In the prior week, reserves had increased by $6.107 billion to $604.042 billion. Despite reaching an all-time high of $645 billion in October 2021, reserves were impacted as the RBI used them to defend the rupee amid global pressures.

In the week ended December 8, foreign currency assets, a significant reserve component, increased by $3.089 billion to $536.699 billion. Gold reserves declined by $199 million to $47.13 billion, while Special Drawing Rights decreased to $18.188 billion. India's IMF reserve position fell to $4.842 billion.
