Indian PM Likely To Visit Ukraine In Next Month

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Kyiv next month for the first time since Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022, sources have said. This follows a meeting between PM Modi and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Italy, where the two leaders shared a hug.

On the day PM Modi secured his third term after the Lok Sabha elections, Zelensky congratulated him and extended an invitation to visit Ukraine. During a phone call in March, PM Modi and President Zelensky discussed strengthening the India-Ukraine partnership. Modi reiterated India's commitment to a people-centric approach and emphasized dialogue and diplomacy for resolving the ongoing conflict. He assured that India would support efforts for a peaceful solution.

Since the war began, India has consistently maintained that the conflict can only be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy. PM Modi has affirmed India's readiness to contribute to any peace efforts.

Earlier this month, PM Modi visited Moscow for a two-day trip. During his meeting with President Putin, he emphasized that no solution could be found on the battlefield, advocating for respect for the United Nations Charter, including territorial integrity and sovereignty. "Dialogue and diplomacy is the way forward," he stated.
