Acting NASA administrator Steve Jurczyk has sought to not only land the first woman on the Moon but also the first person of colour under the Artemis programme.
The Artemis III mission is expected to launch the first woman and next man to the Moon in 2024.
The Joe Biden-Kamala Harris Administration submitted to Congress on Friday the president's priorities for fiscal year 2022 discretionary spending.
"The president's discretionary request increases NASA's ability to better understand Earth and further monitor and predict the impacts of climate change. It also gives us the necessary resources to continue advancing America's bipartisan Moon to Mars space exploration plan, including landing the first woman and first person of colour on the Moon under the Artemis programme," Jurczyk said in a statement on Friday.
"This $24.7 billion funding request demonstrates the Biden Administration's commitment to NASA and its partners who have worked so hard this past year under difficult circumstances and achieved unprecedented success," he added.
With a budget increase of more than 6 per cent from the previous year, NASA will continue to boost its ingenuity in exploration, technology, aeronautics and science.
NASA has welcomed the nomination of former Democratic Senator Bill Nelson as its next administrator, as the US space agency works towards the key Artemis III mission.
The Biden administration aims to Keep NASA on the path to landing the first woman and the first person of colour on the Moon under the Artemis programme.
"This goal aligns with President Biden's commitment to pursue a comprehensive approach to advancing equity for all," said the US space agency.

Wearable brand Fitbit is investigating whether it can measure blood pressure with a new study for Sense smartwatch users.
Fitbit Sense comes with electrodermal activity (EDA) to measure daily stress and comes with a heart rate tracker, electrocardiogram (ECG) monitor and skin temperature sensors.
According to 9To5Google, Fitbit Labs is launching a blood pressure study this month to "potentially measure" Pulse Arrival Time (PAT), or the "time it takes for a pulse of blood to reach your wrist after your heart beats".
The company wants to "explore the potential link to tracking blood pressure" and needs a wider data set, the report said.
Previous research has found a correlation between PAT and blood pressure, but the correlation was not strong enough to predict blood pressure. These investigations were limited to either small data sets or specific environments like an intensive care unit.
According to the report, Fitbit Labs also found a correlation between PAT and blood pressure in a small, three-week internal study.
The new study will extend this work to a broader population in order to learn more about how PAT measurements change under a variety of conditions.
Sense owners over 20 in the US will receive a notification in the Fitbit app about this study.
If successful, the company sees having easy access to blood pressure readings as being potentially helpful for those with hypertension.
With nearly 30 per cent of the population in the US now receiving at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, ride-hailing major Uber has now announced a $250 million stimulus to bring more drivers back on the road.
"After a year of shutdowns and staying in, Americans are getting vaccinated and cities are opening up -- and, as they do, Uber is starting to come back. As we recover, we want to reinvest in drivers," Dennis Cinelli, Vice President, US and Canada Mobility at Uber, wrote in a blog post on Wednesday.
"We're launching a $250 million driver stimulus to boost already high earnings for drivers. Boosted incentives and guarantees will help welcome existing drivers back to Uber and ensure first-time drivers do well as they learn the ropes," Cinelli said.
Uber's ride-hailing business suffered significantly last year amid Covid-19 restrictions when many people had to stay at home to help contain the spread of the disease.
"In 2020, many drivers stopped driving because they couldn't count on getting enough trips to make it worth their time," reads the Uber blog post announcing the stimulus.
"In 2021, there are more riders requesting trips than there are drivers available to give them - making it a great time to be a driver."
Uber said it wants drivers to take advantage of higher earnings now because this is likely a "temporary situation".
As the recovery continues, the company expects more drivers will be hitting the road, which means that "over time earnings will come back to pre-Covid levels".
Several OnePlus 9 Pro users are complaining about issues of overheating. However, the company said that it is a known issue and a fix will be coming via software updates "over the next few weeks".
According to The Verge, the users reported the problem saying that the warning appears even with light use of the phone's still photo or video recording capabilities, and in some cases the phone will prohibit any more photo taking until it cools back down.
Others mention the problem arising around or soon after initial setup.
Overheating phones have been a thing for a while and folks recording tens of minutes of video or playing games in exceptionally high temperatures have run into issues like these for years, but reports indicate this is happening to the OnePlus 9 Pro more frequently than we would expect and at lower potential temperatures, reports Android Police.
OnePlus's camera app also spits a big visible warning among two different messages the phone starts to overheat: "The temperature of your device is currently too high, please pause shotting (sic) for a while to bring it down," and "Unable to take pictures as the phone's temperature is too high."
OnePlus recently rolled out a new software update for its recently launched smartphones, OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro, for limited users. The new update -- OxygenOS 184.108.40.206 -- bumps up the Android security patch levels on both smartphones to March 2021 and comes with tonnes of improvements and bug fixes.

Smartphone brand realme on Thursday expanded its entry-level smartphone C series in India with three smartphones that starts from Rs 6,799.
The 6.5-inch realme C20 (2GB+32GB) in two colours — cool grey and cool blue — is powered with MediaTek Helio G35, houses a 5000mAh battery and an 8MP AI camera) and will be available at an introductory price of Rs 6,799 for the first 10 lakh users from April 13 on realme.com, Flipkart and other key channels.
The 6.5-inch realme C21 comes with MediaTek Helio G35, a 13MP AI triple camera, instant fingerprint sensor and a 5000mAh battery. It will be available in two storage variants (3GB+32GB) for Rs 7,999 and 4GB+64GB variant for Rs 8,999, from April 14.
The third device, realme C25, is powered by MediaTek Helio G70 processor, featuring 13MP AI triple camera, a 6000mAh massive battery, and 18W Type-C quick charge, the company said in a statement.
Available in two storage variants, 4GB+64GB priced at Rs 9,999 and the 4GB+128GB priced at Rs 10,999, realme C25 will be up for sale on April 16.
"Both, realme C21 and realme C25 are the first smartphones which will have TUV Rheinland High Reliability Certification," said Madhav Sheth, Vice President, realme and CEO, realme India and Europe.

As invite-only audio chat app Clubhouse becomes the hot property in the Silicon Valley, Facebook has launched another experiment called Hotline that is a mashup of Instagram Live and Clubhouse.
The feature under test allows creators to speak to an audience who can then ask questions through either text or audio, reports Tech Crunch.
"However, unlike Clubhouse, creators can opt to turn their cameras on for the event, instead of being audio-only," the report said on Tuesday.
At present, users can type in their questions, then join the host "on stage," when it's their turn.
The guests are represented by their profile icon and are audio-only when on stage.
"But in the settings, there's an option for the listener to toggle on video that's not yet functional for today's test," the report noted.
As the questions are asked, users can react with emoji including clapping hands, fire, heart, laughter, surprise and thumbs up.
Another difference between Hotline and Clubhouse is that Hotline events are recorded.
"Despite the similarities with Clubhouse, Hotline has a different look and feel because of its use of video, text-based questions, upvoting and because it's recorded".
Alarmed at the growing popularity of Clubhouse, several tech giants are working on a rival app and Twitter has started testing 'Spaces' on Android.

With an aim to make work-from-home lifestyle more convenient amid the pandemic, Facebook has added Zoom and GoToMeeting support to its Portal TV product.
Zoom and GoToMeeting, as well as BlueJeans and Webex, are already available on Facebook's more portable Portal devices, including the standard Portal, the Portal Mini, and the Portal Plus.
The new additions to the Portal TV should make it much more useful as a work webcam, but also in the event any of your Covid-era digital hangouts happen on Zoom, reports The Verge.
"Now, your favourite Zoom functionality extends to the largest screen in your home, so you can work from your couch as well as your desk," the company said in a blogpost.

Apple's upcoming iPhone 13 Pro may come with a smaller notch and repositioned earpiece and front camera, but with minimal changes otherwise.
According to MacRumors, images shared by Japanese site Mac Otakara claim to show a 3D-printed mockup of the upcoming 6.1-inch iPhone 13 Pro with these modifications.
Apple plans to move the earpiece to the top of the notch within the screen bezel, lining up with a previous photo shared by MacRumors that shows the same design change, the report said.
The alleged iPhone 13 Pro mockup, which is presumably based on leaked design drawings that frequently circulate among case manufacturers and others well ahead of Apple's official unveiling, also shows the front-facing camera moved to the left side of the notch, a change compared to its current location to the right side of the notch.
Mac Otakara has also shared specific dimensions of the notch for the upcoming iPhone 13 Pro, demonstrating how much the notch is expected to shrink, according to the report.
Compared to the iPhone 12 Pro, the mockup suggests the 2021 Pro iPhone will feature a notch that is 5.35 mm in height vs. 5.30 mm for the iPhone 12 Pro and 26.80 mm in width, down from 34.83 mm.
Visually, the notch will be smaller in width but will be slightly taller.
The higher-end iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max are rumoured to come with a ProMotion 120Hz display and the entire lineup is expected to feature a faster A15 chip, improved cameras and new colours, including matte black.
NASA is targeting now April 11 for the Ingenuity Mars Helicopter to make the historic first attempt at powered, controlled flight of an aircraft on another planet.
The decision to push back the date of the launch from April 8 to April 11 was announced by NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, California, on Thursday.
"Come fly with us. #MarsHelicopter is preparing to do something that's never been done: controlled, powered flight on another planet. Takeoff is now slated for no earlier than April 11, with data arriving on Earth on April 12," NASA JPL tweeted.
Ingenuity flew to Mars while being attached to the belly of NASA's Perseverance rover, which made a February 18 touch down on the Red Planet.
Once deployed, Ingenuity will have 30 Martian days, or sols, (31 Earth days) to conduct its test flight campaign.
"When NASA's Sojourner rover landed on Mars in 1997, it proved that roving the Red Planet was possible and completely redefined our approach to how we explore Mars. Similarly, we want to learn about the potential Ingenuity has for the future of science research," Lori Glaze, Director of the Planetary Science Division at NASA Headquarters, had said in a statement.
"Aptly named, Ingenuity is a technology demonstration that aims to be the first powered flight on another world and, if successful, could further expand our horizons and broaden the scope of what is possible with Mars exploration."
Flying in a controlled manner on Mars is far more difficult than flying on Earth.
The Red Planet has significant gravity (about one-third that of Earth's), but its atmosphere is just 1 per cent as dense as Earth's at the surface.
During Martian daytime, the planet's surface receives only about half the amount of solar energy that reaches Earth during its daytime, and nighttime temperatures can drop as low as minus 90 degrees Celsius, which can freeze and crack unprotected electrical components.
To fit within the available accommodations provided by the Perseverance rover, the Ingenuity helicopter must be small.
To fly in the Mars environment, it must be lightweight. To survive the frigid Martian nights, it must have enough energy to power internal heaters.
The system -- from the performance of its rotors in rarified air to its solar panels, electrical heaters, and other components -- has been tested and retested in the vacuum chambers and test labs of NASA's JPL in Southern California.
"Every step we have taken since this journey began six years ago has been uncharted territory in the history of aircraft," said Bob Balaram, Mars Helicopter Chief Engineer at JPL.
"And while getting deployed to the surface will be a big challenge, surviving that first night on Mars alone, without the rover protecting it and keeping it powered, will be an even bigger one."
