Major victory for BJP in Karnataka by polls – BJP stands to establish majority government under Yediyurappa

Man of the match BS Yediyurappa, Chief Minister of Karnataka, this morning pulled of a personal victory in the high stakes by-election battle with the Congress and Janata Dal Secular. Powered largely by defectors from those parties, the BJP wins 12 of 15 seats.

It is a fresh salvo for Modi Shah duo at centre after the great debacle in Maharashtra. With a large powerful state in hand, the top leadership of BJP can breath freely till the next round of political maneuvering starts in Maharashtra.

Yediyurappa, in a feat of political engineering, accrued turn-coats from the ruling Congress-JDS coalition to dislodge the government and return for the fourth time as the state’s top boss.
