“FREE ART PRODUCTIONS” is proud to present its first feature film - “Karma Strikes”. This seminal film is set to enthrall a worldwide audience in theatres, which is directed by National Award-winning and 2 times Dadasaheb Phalke Award-nominated “Kartik Swaminathan Venkatraman” multiple Inter in the 2nd quarter 0f 2022.
“Karma Strikes” is a family drama, a romantic love story, and an intense thriller; you can expect it all! Get ready to enjoy a roller-coaster ride with unpredictable twists and turns in the joyous company of family and friends! Empowered by outstanding performances, melodious songs, beautiful locales, brilliant direction, and a taut screenplay, this film promises to entertain the audience and simultaneously leave them teary-eyed.
“Karma Strikes” is a truly global film that has been shot in both India and the USA. It boasts of extremely talented artists from all over the world including Japan, South Korea, Turkey, Brazil and, of course, our homegrown talent from India.
The cast of the film was carefully chosen after multiple and exhaustive auditions. The selected ensemble comprises theatre artists who have done several short films but are, however, ‘newcomers’ when it comes to acting in feature films. In other words, they are OUTSIDERS with no connection whatsoever to the Indian film industry.
“Karma Strikes” has a very engaging story and serendipitously the story behind making the movie is equally as engaging, courageous, and full of fight.
The screenplay for the movie was written way back in 2010 by Kartik. At that time, he was working as a Senior Manager in Bank of America. Though he always wanted to be a filmmaker from a very young age, his conservative Indian family household did not allow him to pursue a field where there was no guarantee of a steady income.
But as we all know; Karma works in wonderfully eccentric ways!! Kartik's spouse, “Aafreen Karim”, was extremely encouraging and wanted him to follow his childhood passion. Finally in 2019, with Aafreen as his pillar of support, Kartik quit his job and enrolled to study filmmaking at New York Film Academy. Subsequently, he created 5 short films that won several International Awards. He also re-wrote the “Karma Strikes” screenplay to make it more relevant and appealing to the present generation. After laying the foundation, he geared up to pitch it to different production houses.
But the film starred new actors who were unknown faces in the world of cinema. This turned out to be the biggest hurdle during the pitching process.
Even though the producers liked the story and other aspects of “Karma Strikes”, they wanted the cast to be well-known faces from the industry.
Finally, there were 2 options available for Kartik and his team – either change the cast or produce it themselves. And they chose the latter. Consequently, in 2020, Aafreen and Kartik launched “Free Art Productions” as a production company to produce the film.
With family and friends' enthusiastic support, the couple raised the money required to start the film. When they fell short of additional finances, they had to sell their home in Mumbai to be able to finish producing the director’s vision on film. The film was shot in difficult circumstances during and after the 2nd wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Finally, after facing all the hardships, “Karma Strikes” was completed against all odds due to sheer hard work and self-belief by a team of OUTSIDERS

As the end of winter is fast approaching, we can’t help but reminisce about the wonders of summer days. Of course, though the days are warm, we can always cool down with sticky popsicles and cold drinks, but that’s not all we look forward to.
Summer reminds us of vibrant colours, feather-light clothes that keep you comfortable, and experimenting with your fashion choices. This summer, though, let’s look at ethnic trends to rejuvenate your wardrobe; does summer call for some long Anarkali designer gowns? Let’s find out!
Summer Haze and Ethnic Wear
What could be more comfortable in the heat of Indian summer than cotton Kurtas or loose-fit Palazzo pants? Trying to come up with comfortable summer wear ends with us scratching our heads. There’s no better fit to beat the heat than traditional wear ingrained in our culture. But, who said you can’t be comfortable yet stylish simultaneously? With some helpful tips, you can always pick the right ethnic wear this summer, whether it’s selecting Indian ethnic dresses for a wedding, or summer festivities, we’ve covered it all here.
What could be a better time to experiment with various cuts and designs of traditional ethnic wear than summers? You don’t have to stick to full-sleeved Anarkalis or thick Kurtas; it’s time to chop off those extra layers. Instead, pair your designer sharara suits with Kurtas featuring an asymmetrical hemline or even a crop top. Ethnic wear has long since bid goodbye to its traditional moulds, with the latest designs reflecting modern-day styles.
Endless Colours and Prints
The Indian prints and textile industry needs no introduction. When browsing through Indian ethnic wear, especially for occasions such as weddings, it is hard to miss the varying styles of prints across the country. Well, summer is the time to flaunt your love for this traditional art, but that’s not all. Vibrant and bold colours have long been the mainstay of summer fashion and pairing them with beautiful Indian prints is key to making your summer outfit stand out.
The Shoes Make the Outfit
We won’t drone on about the need to wear comfortable clothing during summer. Airy and loose-fit clothing are all that hit the racks during summer, making it easy to piece together an easy-breezy outfit. However, while agonizing over what to wear for your outing, don’t forget to pay mind to your shoes. Most would be happy to bid adieu to their strappy heels and mules. Instead, opt for kolhapuris or embellished juttis that compliment your outfit.
Who doesn’t love a bit of bling with their outfits? So, while pairing your long Anarkali designer gowns with a statement piece is enough during the winters, you can have a little more fun in the summer. Earrings, neckpieces, cuffs and more, the sky is the limit!
We’ll keep our eyes peeled for sunny days where we won’t be struggling to get out of our cosy blanket and daydreaming about our summer closet. So, let’s explore with Moledro about what trends do you hope to see in the summer of 2022?

Chitrangada Singh graced the 6degree #colorsofIndia show for designers Shikha & Srishti. We caught up with the gorgeous actress in a quick tete-e-tete on fashion, travel and what's on the cards:
Do you enjoy on-ground fashion events and the energy that comes with physical shows and appearances?
Chitrangada Singh: Absolutely I think we all have realised the importance of human interaction especially when I think of doing something with creativity like film sets, shoots and now fashion. It is so important to feed off each other's energy.
Your thoughts on traditional bridal ensembles?
Chitrangada Singh: Well, I think the most important thing is that the ensemble I wore for the show, even though it was bridal tradition wear, was not over the top and that's how I like it. Slightly understated, simple, classic.
In the world of fashion celebrity collaborations are replacing celebrity muses, what are your thoughts on that?
Chitrangada Singh: I think it depends. Definitely. I think sometimes you want to bring in your sense of self-style and character to the collection. And I think even for the designer itself, it's a fresh take you know to collaborate with someone who's obviously had enough experience involved in the business in the fashion. I think it's interesting.
What are your travel essentials?
Chitrangada Singh: I really need a really great backpack, which is very easy and it's not leather and all that, big and heavy. So yeah. Something very light and easy. So a good backpack is extremely important to invest in. Of course, a great pair of shoes is very important and I think it's always made sense to slip in a pair of heels wherever you travel because you never know.
Sometimes it's a little formal, so even if you have a pair of jeans and a white shirt or t-shirt and throw on a jacket and a pair of heels, it's a great fix. Yeah, and a pair of boots that go with everything.
How do you support sustainable fashion?
Chitrangada Singh: I've stopped shopping as much as I normally do, even online shopping. This whole idea of consuming so much needs to change. I mean, yes, you can choose a more responsible brand is making good choices and, you know, sort of sourcing and stuff, but at the end of it, it's about consumers. You know, how important it is to be in high fashion mode, I really think we should talk about this a lot more. It's okay to repeat clothes. It's okay, to be seen in the same dress twice a month and it doesn't mean anything. I think it is extremely important and social media has spiraled everything out of control. I think I'm going to start repeating my clothes and not shop as much. Minimalism is the key.
Do you live in the good hands of your stylist or do you make her life e.?
Chitrangada Singh: I'm a Virgo. It's a big problem. Things have to be a certain way. I see it, I like it, I wear it. I know I'm very set in my ways. I think I have about 20, black t-shirts, 20 white jeans in my cupboard.
What is an experience in your life that you're waiting to have?
Chitrangada Singh: I am waiting to go back to Bali.
Your ideal way to unwind, a book, a movie or go to the gym or a night out?
Chitrangada Singh: I really like a good movie and gym. Yeah, just like a good workout and then go grab some popcorn.
Mumbai, Aug 30 (IANS) Former US-Canadian porn star-turned-Indian film actress Sunny Leone has entered the 'Bigg Boss OTT' house.
In a candid conversation with host Karan Johar, Sunny spoke about her favourite contestant in the house, as she revealed Divya Agarwal as her favourite contestant as she has a "strong personality".
She played fun games like 'Coconut Task', the contestants had to do some steamy dance moves to showcase their compatibility followed by another task where they picked one contestant who they accepted and the one they wanted to block! Interesting, isn't it? She played Cupid for the housemates.
Sunny Leone recalled her own 'Bigg Boss' days and said: "Bigg Boss OTT' is all about #StayConnected, so I am here to spread some more love! As the host of 'Splitsvilla', I know what real connections look like and there are contestants who have some amazing bonding in the house."
She added: "I can guide the contestants a little more emotionally to find themselves through that process because this show is also about being over the top. So if you don't have a game you will not survive. I am looking forward to getting on the show and spilling some beans with Karan."
New Delhi, Aug 26 (IANS) Actor Karan Nath is the latest evicted contestant from 'Bigg Boss OTT' and he says he wants co-contestant Divya Agarwal, who is like a "sister" to him, to win the controversial reality show.
Karan told IANS: "I would want Divya to win the show because Divya and I had a real connection in the house. We were like real brother and sister. She took good care of me. So, I would definitely want Divya to win the show."
"Heart wants Divya, the brain says something else but I will stick with the heart."
Karan was evicted from the house along with actress Ridhima Pandit.
What according to him was the reason behind it?
"Since this is all about connection and not about individuals here I think somewhere we fell a little short, according to the audience. Me and Ridhima, we felt that we had a pure, honest connection and we weren't playing mind games with anyone and we were honest about our opinions," Karan said.
"If you talk about me I think I stood up for many people in the house...I defended them. I mean if it comes to audience voting then definitely we are sad that we fell short on votes."
However, Karan, who is best known for his role as the romantic hero in 'Yeh Dil Aashiqanaa', has no regrets.
"I have no regrets. The time I spent inside the house was quite nice, I enjoyed my stay in the Bigg Boss house. It was pretty short but I made some good friends there. I thoroughly enjoyed it."
He would love to come back as a wildcard.
"Yes, of course if they offer me again I would love to come back to the Bigg Boss house. I had a good experience. I would like to come back to the house," he said.
Hosted by filmmaker Karan Johar, 'Bigg Boss OTT' streams on Voot Select.
New Delhi, Aug 7 (IANS) OTT platforms came as a blessing when the Covid-19 pandemic took over the world in 2020, bringing everything to a standstill. The ever-expanding universe of the digital space not just entertained the audience with binge-worthy content but also brought forward many talented actors and shone the spotlight on them and their craft.
Pankaj Tripathi, who can be tagged as the uncrowned king of the digital space, garnered a big fan following after his portrayal as the deadly gangster Kaleen bhaiyya from 'Mirzapur', power-hungry godman Guruji from 'Sacred Games' and the endearing friend in his latest release 'Mimi'.
Pankaj, who grabbed eyeballs ever since he shone on the web crime thrillers, says he is not trying to be a "game-changer" as he is only doing what loves the most -- acting.
"It feels good. The OTT stories have a big hand and the audience for making me the face of OTT. I am thankful. I am called a game-changer but I am just doing my job. I am not doing this to change the game. I am doing what I love and while doing it the game is changing," Pankaj told IANS.
The 44-year-old actor credits the webspace for showcasing his breakthrough performances.
"It is happening. I just love acting. I just got a chance after the advent of OTT. That chance was given by OTT," added Pankaj, who was born in the Gopalganj district of Bihar.
National Award-winning actor Manoj Bajpayee's performances on the big screen and on the web-space cannot be questioned.
He raised the bar for himself with his work in 'The Family Man' and 'The Family Man 2'.
The 52-year-old star sees competing with himself as a "good thing".
"As far as people are saying that I am competing with myself, that is a very good situation to be in and everyone should compete with themselves and nobody else," said the actor.
Manoj added: "In acting you compete with yourself and nobody else rather with your own last work and this is what I always wanted to do and this is what I will do in day-to-day acting life and that's the way it is going to be. I am only interested in doing better than what I have done before."
He does not want to take the tag of being the ruler of the OTT space.
"There are so many actors who are actually the rulers of OTT and they are doing some amazing stuff and learn so much just by watching their work. The kind of performances they are coming up with is new and unique. They have their own method which is interesting to watch," added the actor, who was awarded the Padma Shri in 2019.
Actor Ali Fazal's tryst with web-stardom came in 2018 with his performance as the hot-headed Govind "Guddu" Pandit in the 'Mirzapur', which revolves around a proverbial ruler of Mirzapur in the Purvanchal region of Uttar Pradesh.
The 34-year-old actor is overwhelmed with the love he has got over the years for his work in the crime thriller.
Ali says he is ecstatic to be a part of content evolution.
"I feel a bit of responsibility and feel happy that I was part of something that became the biggest change in our country and cinema. It is cool to see it unravel," said the actor.
He does not want to rush into getting into a signing spree as he says it gets exhausting.
Ali said: "So much talent has come but at the same time I have to be extra careful as to what my next is going to be and that is why I probably have not done the show and only done films."
"It takes up a lot of time and I think requires a lot of focus. It does drain me out. I can't churn out one after the other. I really admire my colleagues who are going one after the other."
Actress Richa Chadha is thankful to the OTT space for bridging the gap between TV viewing audiences and the urban audience.
"I am glad that people are now doing web series and better content options are available to people in India. There was a big gap between the TV viewing audience and the urban audience...so, I think the coming of OTT has solved that problem," she said.
The actress, who hails from Amritsar, Punjab, has treated the audience with her work in series such as 'Inside Edge', films 'Madam Chief Minister' and 'Lahore Confidential', among many others in the webspace.
"I do feel that I am competing with myself and I also feel like my work will be appreciated more in retrospect and am not saying it from a conceited space. I understand that a lot of actors will do different things and experiment and history is kinder to them than the present," added Richa.
Actress Shweta Tripathi is happy to be called the face of OTT.
Over the years, she has worked in the webspace in several projects including 'Mirzapur', 'Raat Akeli Hai', 'Laakhon main ek' and 'The Gone Game'.
The 36-year-old actress has revealed what she admires the most about the platform.
"What I love about OTT is that I can watch it anytime and anywhere at my convenience. I never think about competing with myself or anybody else. I just think I want to do justice to what the director and writer have imagined because this is their story. You are helping them tell their story. Thank you OTT," the actress added.
That's not it!
Actress Rasika Dugal in the OTT era can be tagged as one of the biggest success stories as she took everyone by surprise with her strong performance in the first and second season of the web series 'Mirzapur' as Beena Tripathi, who metamorphosed from a demure 'bahu' to a fierce woman.
Then there is Shefali Shah, who wowed the audience with her powerful performance as the fierce cop DCP Vartika Chaturvedi in the web series 'Delhi Crime' which bagged the Best Drama Series award at the 48th International Emmy Awards.
New Delhi, July 26 (IANS) Former 'Bigg Boss 14' contestant Shefali Jariwala, popularly known as 'Kaanta laga' girl, feels that the event industry has been suffering for the past two years due to the global outbreak of Covid-19. She says its after-effects are slashing down the prices for live shows.
She tells IANS: "Lot of people at the backend from event managers to dancers to musicians are really suffering. We're trying to help each other out as much as possible and whichever few events that I am doing we have already slashed our prices by over fifty per cent so that my staff can keep working. It's alright if we earn a little less money, but it is very important for these people to earn."
Due to pandemics and the lockdown, live shows and shootings have hit the pause button. Thus Shefali is being choosy about her work.
"There is an apprehension in deciding what to do and what not to do. But earlier this year I finished shooting for a short film. I can't talk much about it because the official announcements will be made soon. I am expecting it to be released in the next couple of weeks."
She adds: "Also I have signed a lot of OTT and will be shooting in the month of August. We are waiting for travel restrictions to be lifted and will get on with the shoot."
Currently, the 38-year-old actress, who is married to actor Parag Tyagi, is waiting to get her second jab as she is looking forward to travelling.
"I have got my first shot of the vaccine and once I get my second shot, travelling will be much easier," shares Shefali.
Shefali is known for her glamorous image especially after the popularity of the album 'Kaanta laga'. But in reality, she prefers to be simple and carefree.
"I belong to a simple middle-class Gujarati family and I am still that simple person. You can find me wearing pyjamas and probably with oil in my hair and just lazing around at home."
