WEE 2018 – World Environment Expo

World Environment Expo“WORLD ENVIRONMENT EXPO (WEE 2018)” was organised in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi  by the Green Society of India and Indian Exhibition Service for the national and international environment technology and equipment manufacturers to find out the new business opportunities worldwide.

The main objective of this exhibition is to make people aware about the environment and simplify their life using new technologies. There were 64 stalls in the exhibition, in which more than 100 companies  participated, which is related to environmental engineering and technology, clean air, renewable energy, pollution control. Before this, Suresh Prabhu, Minister of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, duly inaugurated this exhibition and observed all the stalls. Swadesh Kumar, President of Green Society of India said that World Environmental exhibition was successful in its objective. He said that for the first time in India, Green Society of India has given Green India Awards to those who have done their duties towards the environment, this award has been given to encourage their work. Balram Gupta, Director, Indian Exhibition Service, said that the purpose of this exhibition is to make the people recycle the products and use new technology to save natural resources. The exhibition also hosts the International Environment Conference on “Go Green” theme. This exhibition was recognized and supported by Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change as well as Ministry of Road Transport, Government of India. At the same time, India Buildtech 2018 is also organised in Pragati Maidan with World Environment Expo 2018.

NLCI FORAYS INTO POWER TRADING

NLC India Limited (NLCIL), the pioneer in Lignite Mining and Power Generation, has transformed itself to an energy major with its business ventures into coal mining, coal-based power generation and generation of power from renewable (solar and wind) in a big way. Now, as part of its business promotion and diversification plan NLCIL has joined the league of accredited power traders in the country with central electricity regulatory commission  (CERC) granting it category I licence for power trading. NLCIL took up trading of un-requisitioned surplus power (URS) in the year 2016 through NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam limited (NVVN) and earned a revenue of Rs 134 crores from power trading in the year 2016-17 which went up to Rs 294 crores in the year 2017-18. Now NLCIL will take up trading of power in the power market as an independent power trader. It plans to carry out the trading activity through an exclusively power trading arm by procuring power from other Generating Companies (GENCOS) through bilateral agreements.The trading of surplus power in the market will pave the way for effective utilisation of generating capacity of GENCOS by catering to needy procurers by utilising the surrendered/surplus power which otherwise would have gone waste.

NMDC Contributes to ‘Victims Assistance Fund’ for telangana Police

The Solar Charkha Mission will be launched soon in 50 clusters, said Giriraj Singh, Minister of State (I/C), MSME, while addressing the press. The Solar Charkha Mission of the Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) will be launched by the President, Ram Nath Kovind on June 27, in New Delhi. The mission will cover 50 clusters and every cluster will employ 400 to 2000 artisans. The mission has been approved by the Government of India and will disburse subsidy of Rs 550 crore to the artisans. This was informed by the Minister of MSME at a press conference while releasing a booklet on the four years’ achievement by his ministry. The minister further informed that 15 new state-of-the-art technology centers are being set up all over the country including North-East, of which 10 centers will become operational by March 2019. Each center is being built at a cost of around Rs 150 crore. The 10 centers which will become operational soon are located in Durg (Chhattisgarh), Bhiwadi (Rajasthan), Rohtak (Haryana), Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), Bengaluru (Karnataka), Sitarganj (Uttarakhand), Baddi (Himachal Pradesh), Bhopal (M.P.), Kanpur (U.P.) and Puducherry.

The Minister further informed that under Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) budgetary allocation for FY 2018-19 has been increased by 75 per cent to Rs 1,800 crore. In order to incentivize entrepreneurs, mainly women and SC/ST, Government will be making an investment of about Rs  10,000 crore in the micro sector in this financial year.

The Minister also informed that work being done by the Ministry has promoted ease-of-doing-business with the setting up of four portals: MSME Sambandh, MSME Samadhaan, Udyog Aadhaar and Udyam Sakhi.

He also informed that the Ministry of MSME has provided training to over 15 lakh people during the last four years through its various initiatives.

For punctual railway services

With an aim of improving the punctuality of the Mail/Express trains running under Northern Railway, the authorities announced several measures to speed up the trains and improve cleanliness. In a Press Conference addressed by General Manager, Northern Railway, Vishwesh Chaube said that Footplate inspections by Senior Officers by different trains over critical sections will regularly be conducted starting 9th June onward. Live monitoring of assets failures (Loco failures, Signal failures, OHE failure)  will be also be done through Whatsapp with active involvement of Headquarters office. Northern Railway has also taken various steps to raise cleanliness standards like mechanised cleaning CTS (Plan Train Station) scheme at New Delhi, Varanasi and Lucknow stations.

BYPL and GIZ join hands to promote Renewable Energy

Thaawarchand Gehlot, Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, chaired the third meeting of National Council of Senior Citizens(NCSrC) convened by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment recently. Vijay Sampla, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Lal Krishna Advani, Member of Parliament, Neelam Sawhney, Secretary, M/o SJ and E and Members of the Council participated in the meeting. Addressing on the occasion, Thaawarchand Gehlot said, “The government is committed to the welfare of senior citizens and several new initiatives have been taken during past four years. The NCSrC advises Central and State Governments on the entire gamut of issues related to welfare of senior citizens and enhancement of their quality of life.”

BUREAU OF INDIAN STANDARDS conducts raid

Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Delhi Branch Office-I conducted an enforcement raid at the premises of R. Star Enterprises Kirari, Delhi.  The firm was manufacturing Helmets without having valid BIS Certification licence under brand names R. Star and Rocking with CM/L-8100017593 as per IS 4151:1993 violating Section 17 (3) of BIS Act 2016 which is a punishable offence.The raid team also seized substantial quantity of helmets at the unit.

KVIC distributes record breaking number of bee boxes in single day in Kashmir

The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) has created a world record of distributing maximum number of bee-boxes in one day. This was achieved by the KVIC in the Zangalee Army area at Kupwara in Kashmir, beating its previous best of 1000 bee boxes in Kaziranga forest area among the Mishing tribe on the occasion of World Honey Bee Day. Two thousand three hundred thirty(2330) bee-boxes were distributed among 233 beneficiaries in the Zangalee Army area.

On this occasion, Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta, said that the KVIC’s programmes could generate jobs in the valley.

The KVIC Chairman,Vinai Kumar Saxena, said that the ‘Honey Mission’ is aimed to fulfil the call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a sweet kranti. The KVIC made an action plan named Honey Mission – with a target to distribute 1.3 lakh bee-boxes before November 2018 across the country and so far 27,000 bee-boxes have already been distributed. The Chairman further added that KVIC is the nodal agency of Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) under which loans will be provided for setting up units of processing, bottling, packaging and labelling units for the honey.

The programme in Kupwara was held in association with the Indian Army under its Sadbhawna programme in order to establish peace and harmony in the valley. Major General C. B Ponappa, GOC Vajra Division Kupwara, in his address, said that such developmental programmes could play a pivotal role in establishing peace and harmony in Jammu and Kashmir.

Indian Army helped in providing training and also provided 10 per cent finance for setting up of the apiaries, thereby providing the beneficiaries a platform for earning livelihood.

Pm Modi interacts with young Ones Through VIdeo

Prime Minister Narendra Modi directly communicated with younger population and motivated them. The prime minister’s video conference was held on June 6 from PMO to five schools in different regions of India under Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) of Niti Aayog. Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), one of the leading telecom operator of this country, effectively managed connectivity on June 6, during Modi’s interaction with young entrepreneurs of India.
