Trump Unveils ‘Gold Card’ Plan for Skilled Immigrants

Trump Unveils ‘Gold Card’ Plan for Skilled Immigrants

Former US President Donald Trump has announced a new ‘gold card’ initiative aimed at attracting skilled international graduates and wealthy investors to the United States. Under this plan, US companies will be able to hire Indian graduates from top American universities, such as Harvard and Stanford, by purchasing a gold card, which grants work privileges and a path to citizenship.

Speaking from the Oval Office, Trump emphasized that the current immigration system forces talented graduates from countries like India, China, and Japan to leave the US after completing their education. “These students graduate, receive job offers, but the uncertainty of their visa status leads to revoked offers,” Trump said. “They go back to their countries, start businesses, and become billionaires, employing thousands. We want them to stay in the US.”

The gold card, priced at $5 million, provides similar benefits to a green card but offers a direct pathway to citizenship. Companies can purchase these cards to recruit highly skilled foreign graduates. Trump also highlighted that the revenue from gold card sales will contribute to reducing national debt.

This initiative will replace the EB-5 immigrant investor visa program, which grants green cards to immigrants investing a minimum of $800,000 in job-creating US projects. Unlike EB-5, the gold card does not require job creation in specific economic zones.

Trump suggested that millions of these cards could be sold and announced that the program will officially launch in two weeks. With this move, the US aims to retain top global talent while simultaneously attracting high-net-worth individuals willing to invest in the American economy.
