The Power of Almighty

The Power of Almighty

While there’s a God in everyone, we are mortal beings who walk the Earth, with head on our shoulders and our responsibilities with us.

God is omnipresent, omnipotent and omniscient. These qualities distinguish God from us souls. We can never be present everywhere; we are limited to our presence where our physical bodies are located. Similarly, we are extremely limited in how much ‘shakti’ or power we inherently have. Some people like big leaders or kings have lots of power but that is not inherent in them. Such power, like that of Hitler, is external. Once it was gone, Hitler was a defeated man and committed suicide. Likewise, we can never be all-knowing. We can know a lot about some subject. For instance, Einstein possessed knowledge about physics. But we, human beings, can never see the big picture in its totality, ie the past, the present and the future. Therefore, we are severely handicapped when it comes to making informed decisions.

Is the cosmic design, then, defective? Have we been unfairly dealt? No, this is the only way the creation would have been possible. God could not have created clones of Himself. This would have then created parallel power centers. Can we imagine what that would have done? As it is, if someone amongst us gets a little power, then, it is highly likely that he or she will be drunk with it.

Therefore, the Lord had to limit us souls. Regarding presence, we are limited to one place, but we can be at other places as well in the virtual sense with the help of scientific gadgets like cell phones. These days, people hold video conferences with the participants being present at different places. Additionally, we can travel to far off places with our minds; we can imagine ourselves to be somewhere else or at any place we choose to be.

As regards power, God has allowed us the choice of gaining more power than what is inherent in us with the help of other people by becoming their leaders. This way, we can pool individual powers under our control. There is another way. One can do severe austerities, please divine authorities and gain material siddhis or weapons. Persons like Arjuna had obtained divine weapons, which were very potent. Individual power is a sum total of physical, mental and intellectual powers.

Now coming to knowledge, one can gather as much knowledge as time permits. But time is the biggest constraint in this. Our brains are created for much more than what we can imagine. It is said that the best of us use a maximum of 10% of our brains’ capacities. This is also very rare. God has been very generous in this regard.

Therefore, we can see that the cosmic design is well suited for us human beings to be able to exist well. Yes, there are many limitations which have been pointed out earlier but they can also be overcome if we follow the guidelines of our scriptures. The first way in to seek guidance from God whenever we are confused about anything. God is willing to guide as Lord Krishna has pointed out at several places in the Gita. The second way is to be willing to do our duties as guided by God. Here again, God has offered to help if we are aligned with Him, ie we have become God conscious. Rather, God promises to help out in all situations which are challenging to our resources. Similarly, we can achieve almost anything like harnessing natural energy for common good by coming together.

Yes, we are incomplete without God, but God is ever willing to help. An objection may be raised about the requirement of us surrendering to God. God will never force us to do that. We will only deprive ourselves of what is available, ie God’s help, if we choose not to surrender. Suppose a person decides not to use his eyes to see; can we blame God for that? There is no doubt that we are incomplete in ourselves, but are we really in the larger sense?
