Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) headquarters in Nagpur on Sunday, marking his first visit since assuming office 11 years ago. He described the RSS as the "banyan tree" of India's cultural and national consciousness.

PM Modi became the second sitting Prime Minister to visit the RSS headquarters after Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 2000. During his visit, he paid homage at the Dr. Hedgewar Smruti Mandir, honoring RSS founder Keshav Baliram Hedgewar and second Sarsanghchalak M.S. Golwalkar. Writing in the venue's message book, he called the memorial an inspiration for countless swayamsevaks dedicated to national service.

In his address, Modi lauded the RSS for its century-long dedication to nation-building. "RSS is not just an organization; it is a movement of service and national awakening," he said. He emphasized that as India approaches its 2047 vision of ‘Viksit Bharat,’ the Sangh’s values will continue to guide the nation.

The Prime Minister also visited Deekshabhoomi, where Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar embraced Buddhism in 1956. Paying tribute at the stupa containing Ambedkar’s ashes, he hailed Deekshabhoomi as a beacon of social justice. "This place embodies Babasaheb's vision of equality and harmony. A developed and inclusive Bharat will be the true tribute to him," he wrote in the visitors' diary.

PM Modi’s Nagpur itinerary also included inaugurating the Madhav Netralaya Premium Centre, an expansion of the Madhav Netralaya Eye Institute. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari accompanied him.

Additionally, Modi visited Solar Defence and Aerospace Limited’s facility, inaugurating an airstrip for UAVs and a loitering munition testing center, reinforcing India’s commitment to self-reliance in defense technology.
