PM Modi Pays Tribute at RSS Founder Hedgewar’s Memorial in Nagpur

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday visited the Dr. Hedgewar Smruti Mandir in Nagpur, paying homage to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) founder Keshav Baliram Hedgewar and the organization’s second sarsanghchalak, MS Golwalkar.

During his visit to the Smruti Mandir in Reshimbagh, the administrative headquarters of the RSS, PM Modi was accompanied by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat. The Prime Minister offered floral tributes at the memorials and spent time reflecting on the contributions of Hedgewar and Golwalkar to the organization’s growth and ideology.

PM Modi’s visit coincided with the Sangh’s Pratipada programme, marking the festival of Gudi Padwa, which signifies the beginning of the Hindu New Year. The festival holds cultural and spiritual significance across Maharashtra and other parts of India, symbolizing renewal and prosperity.

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, founded in 1925 by Hedgewar, has played a crucial role in shaping nationalist ideology in India. MS Golwalkar, who led the RSS from 1940 to 1973, was instrumental in expanding the organization’s influence across the country. The Smruti Mandir stands as a tribute to their legacy, drawing leaders and followers who seek inspiration from their teachings.

This visit underscores PM Modi’s deep association with the RSS, where he began his early political journey. Over the years, he has often acknowledged the role of the organization in shaping his leadership values and governance principles.

As India welcomes the new year with Gudi Padwa celebrations, the Prime Minister’s homage at the Smruti Mandir reflects a connection between tradition, ideology, and governance, reinforcing the enduring legacy of the RSS in national discourse.
