Iran Readies Missiles After Trump’s Threats Over Nuclear Deal

Hours after former US President Donald Trump threatened Iran with severe bombing over nuclear negotiations, Tehran has responded by preparing missiles capable of striking US-linked targets globally. According to the state-owned Tehran Times, Iran’s armed forces have positioned these missiles in underground facilities designed to withstand airstrikes.

On Sunday, Trump warned that if Iran refused to negotiate a new nuclear agreement, it would face an unprecedented military assault. “If they don’t make a deal, there will be bombing—bombing the likes of which they have never seen before,” he told NBC News.

Beyond military threats, Trump also hinted at reinstating secondary sanctions on Iran and its trade partners, stating that a final decision would be made in the coming weeks based on Tehran’s response.

Iran’s military readiness comes amid renewed tensions over its nuclear program. Trump had previously withdrawn the US from the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), which imposed restrictions on Iran’s nuclear activities in exchange for sanctions relief. Despite his threats, Trump reiterated that his administration remains open to negotiations, provided Iran commits to limiting its nuclear ambitions.

Iran’s newly elected President, Masoud Pezeshkian, responded by rejecting direct talks but confirmed that indirect negotiations through Oman could continue. Speaking on state media, he criticized the US for its lack of commitment to past agreements.

“The supreme leader has allowed indirect negotiations. We do not avoid dialogue, but it is their unfaithfulness that has caused problems. They must prove they can be trusted, and I hope this will materialize,” Pezeshkian said, as quoted by AFP.

With tensions escalating, the coming weeks will determine whether diplomacy prevails or if the region inches closer to military confrontation.
