National Security Advisor Ajit Doval held bilateral talks with US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard on Sunday, focusing on strengthening intelligence cooperation and security collaboration under the India-US strategic partnership.
Ms. Gabbard, on a two-and-a-half-day visit to India, also participated in a high-level security conclave attended by intelligence chiefs from Canada, the UK, Australia, Germany, New Zealand, and other friendly nations.
Discussions centered on intelligence sharing, counterterrorism efforts, threats from emerging technologies, and security in the Indo-Pacific. Deliberations also covered countering terror financing, money laundering, extradition, and immigration issues. The Indian side raised concerns over anti-India elements operating from foreign soil, including pro-Khalistan groups.
The visit of Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) chief Daniel Rogers was notable amid strained India-Canada ties over the Hardeep Singh Nijjar case. The issue was expected to feature in Doval’s talks with Rogers.
The intelligence leaders also addressed global security concerns, including the Russia-Ukraine war and conflicts in the Middle East.
Ms. Gabbard, on a multi-nation tour of Japan, Thailand, and France, will also speak at the Raisina Dialogue on Tuesday. This marks her second international visit since taking charge, following her trip to Germany for the Munich Security Conference last month.
