India Neutralises Pak Air Defences Following Failed Attack on Military Bases

India's Operation Sindoor, launched in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, successfully targeted 24 terror camps of Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. The operation was carefully designed to be non-escalatory, sparing all Pakistani military installations. However, Pakistan responded by attempting to escalate the situation.

Late Wednesday night, Pakistan launched a widespread drone and missile attack on Indian military bases across 15 locations, including Awantipora, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Ludhiana, Chandigarh, and Bhuj. These attacks were thwarted by India’s Integrated Counter UAS Grid and air defence systems, with debris now being collected as evidence of Pakistan’s intent.

In proportionate retaliation, the Indian Armed Forces on Thursday morning neutralised several Pakistani air defence radars, including one in Lahore. The Indian government stressed that the response was measured and in the same domain, reiterating its commitment to responsible action, conditional on Pakistan’s restraint.

Meanwhile, Pakistan has intensified cross-border shelling in multiple sectors along the Line of Control, including Kupwara, Poonch, Uri, and Rajouri. The government confirmed 16 civilian casualties, including five children and three women, forcing India to respond with calibrated mortar and artillery fire to suppress further aggression.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri affirmed India’s right to act in self-defence, stating that Operation Sindoor was both pre-emptive and deterrent, grounded in actionable intelligence of impending attacks. He criticised Pakistan for its lack of accountability and continued support for cross-border terrorism.

India has made it clear that further provocations will be met with decisive force but remains committed to non-escalation, provided this principle is reciprocated by Pakistan.
