India buoyant About US After Donald Trump's Return: Jaishankar

At the silver jubilee celebrations of the Aditya Birla Group's Scholarship programme in Mumbai, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar highlighted the ongoing shift toward a more diverse, multipolar world. He noted that while emerging economies are gaining prominence, industrialized economies in the West continue to be key players in the global market. "Older industrialized economies have not gone away. They remain prime investment targets, strong innovation hubs, and large markets," Jaishankar remarked, acknowledging both the rebalancing of global power and the continued importance of Western economies.

Jaishankar also addressed the impact of global shifts on India's position. He pointed out that India's growing economic stature and the success of its professionals and businesses reflect the inevitable rise of emerging economies post-independence. "Some countries grew faster, some slower, but the quality of governance and leadership played a significant role," he added, underscoring that while the global power dynamics are changing, the West's influence remains substantial.

On the India-US relationship, Jaishankar noted that despite concerns over the return of Donald Trump as U.S. President, India is not anxious. He highlighted the strong rapport between Prime Minister Modi and U.S. Presidents, including Trump, saying, "PM Modi was among the first to receive a call from President-elect Trump."

Earlier, Aditya Birla Group Chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla spoke about the importance of investing in talent to shape the future. He emphasized that the Aditya Birla Scholarship program, established in 1999 in memory of the late industrialist Aditya Vikram Birla, aims to cultivate leaders who excel both in India and abroad. The program, which partners with top institutions like IITs and IIMs, has supported over 780 scholars across engineering, management, and law disciplines.
