Hezbollah Drone Targets Benjamin Netanyahu's Residence

Hezbollah Drone Targets Benjamin Netanyahu's Residence

A drone was launched towards Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's residence in Caesarea on Saturday, shortly after Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar was killed in an Israeli operation. Netanyahu’s spokesperson confirmed that neither the prime minister nor his wife were at the residence during the attack, and no casualties were reported.

The Israeli military stated that the drone originated from Lebanon and struck a building. Two additional drones were intercepted after crossing into Israeli airspace. Though no group immediately claimed responsibility, Hezbollah has been exchanging fire with Israel since last October, and tensions between the two sides have escalated since the October 7 Hamas attack.

This incident followed Israel’s airstrike on a Hezbollah regional command center, intensifying the ongoing conflict. At least 1,418 people have been killed in Lebanon since late September, according to Lebanese health authorities. On the same day, an Israeli airstrike targeted a car in Jounieh, north of Beirut, killing two people in the first such attack in that region.

The drone strike comes amid increasing tensions, especially after Sinwar's death. Sinwar, who orchestrated the October 7 attacks that claimed over 1,200 Israeli lives and led to the capture of 250 hostages, assumed leadership of Hamas following the death of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.
