BJP on mission mode to establish its govt in J-K: Jitendra Singh

Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Monday made a strong case for a BJP-led government in Jammu and Kashmir, emphasizing that such an administration is crucial for fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of integrating the Union Territory into India's broader growth narrative. Singh criticized the Congress and National Conference (NC) for their past exploitation of Article 370 for political gain, noting that leaders who once avoided public appearances in Srinagar are now comfortably spending time at Lal Chowk.

Highlighting the BJP's commitment to Jammu and Kashmir, Singh stated, "Prime Minister Modi and his government are dedicated to ensuring that J&K plays a pivotal role in India's growth story." He stressed that the formation of a BJP government in the region is central to this mission, with a focus on transparent governance, development, and optimal use of natural resources.

Singh outlined the BJP’s strategy for Jammu and Kashmir, which is built on three pillars: reinforcing democratic processes, driving development in underdeveloped areas, and promoting self-governance for more effective administration. He argued that a "double engine government," with the BJP at both the Centre and in Jammu and Kashmir, is essential for the region to thrive and contribute significantly to India's rapid development, especially as the country approaches its centennial in 2047.

The Union Minister pointed out the positive changes in the region following the abrogation of Article 370, such as a significant boost in tourism. He also mentioned that the upcoming Assembly elections represent a crucial turning point, marking the first five-year term enabled by the Article's removal.

Singh further criticized past governments for delaying essential projects, citing the Shahpur-Kandi and Rattle projects, which have gained momentum under PM Modi’s leadership, along with new power initiatives in Kishtwar. These projects, he noted, are part of the broader development agenda that the BJP aims to accelerate in Jammu and Kashmir.
