Biden is making transition difficult: Trump

US President-elect Donald Trump has accused outgoing President Joe Biden of complicating the presidential transition through a series of last-minute executive orders, particularly on climate policy. Trump, 78, is set to be inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States on January 20, succeeding Biden, 82, in the White House.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump criticized Biden's actions, including bans on oil and gas drilling along vast stretches of the U.S. coastline. “Biden is doing everything possible to make the TRANSITION as difficult as possible, from Lawfare such as has never been seen before, to costly and ridiculous Executive Orders on the Green New Scam and other money-wasting Hoaxes,” Trump wrote. He promised to reverse these policies, asserting, “Fear not, these ‘Orders’ will all be terminated shortly, and we will become a Nation of Common Sense and Strength. MAGA!!!”

Biden's latest executive order blocks new drilling off the East Coast, California, Oregon, Washington, and parts of Alaska’s coastline, covering an area larger than Alaska and Texas combined. The move aligns with Biden’s environmental agenda but starkly contrasts with Trump’s plans to promote domestic energy production.

While Trump has vowed to undo Biden’s orders, legal hurdles could complicate such efforts. In 2019, Trump was blocked in his attempt to reverse similar drilling restrictions implemented by former President Barack Obama.

Despite Trump’s claims of a difficult transition, his incoming chief of staff, Susie Wiles, praised the Biden administration’s cooperation. “White House Chief of Staff Jeff Zients has been very helpful, offering suggestions and ensuring we stay on schedule,” Wiles noted, adding that Zients even hosted a dinner for former chiefs of staff.

The contrasting narratives underscore the tensions as Biden exits and Trump prepares to take office, promising significant policy shifts.
