Baba Siddique Shot Dead By Lawrence Bishnoi Gang: Sources

Baba Siddique Shot Dead By Lawrence Bishnoi Gang: Sources

Former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique, 66, was shot dead in Bandra, Mumbai, sparking security concerns ahead of the upcoming state elections. Siddique, a senior politician from the Ajit Pawar faction of the Nationalist Congress Party and a three-time MLA from Bandra West, was attacked near his son's office, where six bullets were fired at him, four striking his chest.

Two suspects, Gurmail Baljit Singh (23) from Haryana and Dharamraj Kashyap (19) from Uttar Pradesh, were arrested, while a third accomplice remains at large. The Mumbai Police Crime Branch is investigating the possibility of the killing being linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, though the gang has not yet claimed responsibility. The suspects reportedly conducted a month-long recce before carrying out the attack.

Police are also exploring another angle involving a slum rehabilitation case. Sources suggest Siddique had received a death threat 15 days prior to the shooting and was under ‘Y’ category security cover. His proximity to Bollywood actor Salman Khan, who has been threatened by the Bishnoi gang over the 1998 black buck hunting case, has fueled suspicions of the gang’s involvement.

Bishnoi, currently imprisoned in Gujarat, is known for orchestrating crimes from jail, with his gang linked to high-profile murders, including rapper Sidhu Moosewala. Authorities are coordinating with central agencies and police in Gujarat and Delhi to investigate the case further.
